dead soldiers
it seems certain that the studio will be closing at the end of june. i will make my pilgrimage there before they close even if i am not fully recovered from my operation. i have had too many great places for sex pass without my stopping by to pay tribute and remember. i love public sex and the places that have been good to me in that respect i hold in as dear a spot in my heart as i do the men i met there.
in nyc there was the villa hombre (or rancho hombre i can't remember what the sign said because it was right next to a poster of jeff stryker) which was downstairs at the adult bookstore next to the show palace on 8th ave between 42nd and 43rd, huge spaces between the booths that you could climb through into the booth next to yours, tons of hot hustlers who i would smile at drool over and occasionally pay up for, as well as lots of guys like me who were giving it away. closed, along with so many others (the cameo, new david, eros and adonis) when the disneyfication of times square was in full force. a friend had made me (convinced me to) promise that i wouldn’t go there anymore and when i found it had closed i was so fucking pissed, i still feel some small part of that resentment as i write this these many years later. banana video, where bananas went to meet other bananas, i met some really hot bananas in both the booth section as well as in the pay free for all section (kind of like vishara video now only much cooler because you could fool around in public) another casualty of america’s mayor and his dislike of public sex venues.
in pennsylvania too there was a place loved and lost, the trexlertown adult bookstore, a wooden, looked like a farmhouse, bookstore with peeling paint would have easily been passed by had it not been for the simple sign out front “adults books” (those words always brighten a road trip for me). i would make long treks on 222 stopping at the sexual attractions along the way, but i could have saved time, gas and an alternator had i just stopped at trexlertown (huge gloryholes, no monitoring by the staff and lots of hot and horny guys) nothing that followed it on the long ride to reading came close to the fun to be had there.
in new jersey the towns and highways are littered with memories. the montauk theater in passaic was one of the best; it may still be open or maybe not, either way it is a shell of its former glory. a wonderful big old movie theater, i remember trying to figure out how many seats there were in the main theater during one of the intermissions i gave myself during my hours there and never could quite figure it out; there must have been at least 600. in addition to a huge space the theater contained lots of horny hispanic guys and sex everywhere, i met 2 boyfriends there too. rutgers, my alma mater, was good to me and then turned her back, gone is the double-doored basement bathroom at alexander library and the action that went with it; also gone is the parking (and therefore the action) at the ecological preserve. one regret is that i never checked out the adult movie theater or the booth section of the adult bookstore on albany st before they closed the winter break of my freshman year.
so many dead soldiers. the only one i managed to visit before it closed was the adult movies in sayreville on route 9 in nj, and that had seen its best days, which i enjoyed the tail end of, long before it closed.
